Oil of the Week 10.5.20

The oil of the week for October 4-10th is Ylang Ylang (Cananaga odorata). This workhorse of an oil comes from the Phillipines, Indonesia and Madagascar. Ylang ylang is known as the "flower of flowers" and comes from the ylang ylang trees' pink, mauve or yellow flowers.

I refer to this as the workhorse oil because it causes some heavy duty changes in our bodies for it's sweet scent. I paired it this week with our card of the week, Winter, because of the focus on hunkering down and withdrawing into our space and the incredible need for self care! Jenny and I loved seeing your self care posts last week so we need to carry that through and remember our interventions for this week with a bit of help from ylang ylang.

Ylang ylang, whether diffused, applied topically, or inhaled directly, can assist us in letting go of deep-seeded emotions such as guilt, anger, jealousy and frustration! It helps relieve us of feelings of fear, panic, shyness, rejection and self blame! Letting go of these types of emotions is an incredible step towards self care. Apply this oil, or breathe it in deep, while setting an intention to release the emotions within you that are no longer serving you in a positive way.

Physically, ylang ylang can help us with symptoms caused by extreme emotions such as, rapid breathing, racing heart, loss of appetite, etc!

Energetically, once the emotions are released, ylang ylang can leave us with feelings of joy, self-confidence, self-awareness, peace, and love.

I don't know about you but we could bathe our country in some ylang ylang and help make all these intense issues go away! As we retreat inside once again, why not indulge in a bath with some ylang ylang, meditation, music, a good book.....you deserve it! WE deserve it!
