Oil of the Week: Peppermint
With work to be done this week there is no better essential oil to turn to for help than peppermint!
Peppermint (Mentha x piperita) eo comes from the steam distillation of the fresh or partially dried stems of the herb plant.
Physically peppermint is best known for headaches and gastrointestinal upset. For headaches it can be diffused or applied directly to the temples or base of the head/top of the neck. For nausea one small drop under the nose in combination with deep breathing can alleviate nausea within minutes, especially motion sickness. Be careful with the application of peppermint as it is very strong. Sensitive individuals should use peppermint diluted with a carrier oil 1:1.
Mentally peppermint aids in concentration and mental clarity to help us get that work done this week! It relieves both mental and physical fatigue and stress.
Energetically peppermint refreshes our spirit, provides clarification, and supports our intuition.
Side note: peppermint is also great added to recipes containing chocolate!
