Oil of the week

Well, I guess the Universe is really trying to tell us something! Winter as our card of the week again! What that means to me, with the current events around us, is that we need to stay in, focus on our self care through mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical well being! This is easier to do as the days are shorter and colder.

So, this brings about my oil of the week, Vetiver (Vetiveria zizanoides). Vetiver EO (essential oil) comes to us from the tall, perennial grass native to India, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia. It can also be found in more tropical climates such as Java, Haiti, and Brazil. The oil comes directly from the steam distillation of the grasses' roots. It is a thick, light brown, caramel colored oil with a warm, woody, smoky scent.

Physically, vetiver is a great support to the immune system and can enhance lymphatic and blood circulation. It is also great for the skin, especially acne, when applied topically.

Emotionally, vetiver is an excellent sleep aid as it brings about a relaxing and comforting environment. In fact, one of Jenny's favorite uses is a drop on her big toe before bed! I personally use it in many sleep blends as well! Vetiver is also great at relieving mental and physical exhaustion and can balance the central nervous system, decreasing our feelings of being anxious, fearful, or nervous.

Energetically, vetiver can strengthen our auric shield. This means that the aura that surrounds us can be affected by the oils' vibrational level, thereby increasing our own vibrational level. This can facilitate stronger relationships spiritually or a stronger connection to the universe and source. This strengthened aura can help protect us better from negative energies! Vetiver is also known to have a cooling effect on the body and mind and can help release deep seeded fears we carry within our subconscious.

As you can see, this is such a fitting oil for helping us to hunker down for the winter, stay in, and focus on more holistic self care. This oil really is a must have in your collection. It is wonderful diffused or applied topically.
