Oil of the Week-Eucalyptus

Well I guess it is obvious from our card of the week......we need to double down and lead with love! The oil of the week this week, Eucalyptus, is a wonderfully stimulating oil that I selected for several reasons as outlined below.

There is over 700 species of eucalyptus, with only 5 specific essential oils used in human health. For the purposes of personal use and education I would recommend using E. radiata and E. globulus. This tree is native to Australia, but is now much more common, especially here in the US. The essential oil comes from the steam distillation of the fresh and partially dried leaves. Eucalyptus is a high note and intensely odorous oil, which when tenting should be mixed with a couple of drops of carrier oil. It is safe to diffuse, which I highly reccommend, as it is stimulating to the senses and especially when mixed with lemon or lime which is one of my all-time favs!!

Physically, eucalyptus is fantastic for respiratory support, headaches and sinus issues, skin irritations, and is one of my favorites to apply on insect bites.

Emotionally, eucalyptus can balance our positive and negative energy and emotions......HELLO world (who doesn't need this right now!!)....... while helping to stabilize moodiness, stress, and feeling down. Like Jenny mentioned in the card of the week post, we need to continue to lead from the heart....like the Care Bears!!!. Eucalyptus can help us do this by aiding in alertness, increased performance, increased concentration, and give us a boost in those sleepy afternoons!

Energetically, eucalyptus is connected to the alchemic symbol of Mercury, representing communication, and aiding our throat chakra as well, to help us speak our truths. Pairing this week again with our card of the week by speaking our truths from the heart and a place of compassion and love. I feel the need to put as much compassion, kindness, and love back into the world right now and this powerful oil can help me do just that!
