Oil of the Week: Fennel

Hi All! Mary here coming at you this week with the oil of the week.....Fennel! Adding onto what Jenny mentioned about inspiration, intentions, possibly dormant energy....Fennel will give you the kick you need.

Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare) is a flowering plant from the carrot family. It's seeds are crushed and steam distilled to bring us this sweet, peppery clear to yellow oil with a middle-top note. Fennel originated mainly in China, Russia, India, Africa and several european countries and can now be found worldwide. It is used to complement many foods.

Physically, fennel essential oil can provide pain relief, especially for backaches, cramps, etc. It can help boost our appetite and aid in digestion (maybe why it was added to heavier meats, like sausage years ago??). A tea made of fennel can provide support for gas, bloating, indigestion, and constipation.

Emotionally, fennel is a powerhouse oil! It provides emotional stability and fortitude while also providing relief from stress, mental strain, tension, fear, indecision, and sadness. One of it's great properties I think goes well with the card of the week is, assisting with introspection and contemplation. Giving us that ability to look within at our intentions while also bringing about feelings of peace and positivity.

Energetically and spiritually, fennel is noted to boost our spiritual strength and recharge our bodies. It clears and purifies our auric fields and is said to bring about self awareness to our light within (think new intention(s) and self examination)!

Safety: Fennel should not be used in pregnancy and dilute well for use in children.

Diffuse some fennel this week and take that inspirational look into your intentions and see what comes about. Happy oiling!
