Oil of the week: Patchouli

I wanted to have a little fun with my oil pairing this week....taking the literal meaning behind the card of the week as well as addressing the energy that surrounds the card...the snake!

My pairing for this week is Patchouli. Not only is patchouli great for the literal shedding of our winter skin, it is an excellent oil to help ground us and prepare our minds for what newness my arrive.

Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin) comes to us from the dried leaves and flowers of the patchouli plant native to Asia, which are steam distilled to bring us this base note and earthy oil.

Physically, patchouli is a god send for our skin. It can support many types of skin imperfections such as acne, dermatitis, scars, wrinkles, wounds, dandruff, insect bites, and oil imbalance just to name a few.

Emotionally, patchouli can aid in stressful conditions as well as acting as an aphrodisiac.

Energetically, patchouli is high in qualities that provide us gounding which can aid in our meditation practice, provide insight to our dreams, help us to be more thoughtful, especially in regards to empathy and support, assist with concentration and balance positive and negative energies that may surround us.

So as you literally start to shed your winter skin and mentally shed your expectations to prepare for newness with an open mind, splash on some patchouli to support you in both ways!
