What are essential oils, anyway?

Essential oils are the lifeblood of a plant or tree that help it withstand the forces of nature. The properties that help the plant remain viable in nature can also be supportive of our various body systems as well. Oils have been used for millenia, dating all the way back to Egyptian times. They were used for physical, emotional, and spiritual support, and we can use them in much the same way today.

How do they work?

Oils can be used in three ways - aromatically (either by direct inhalation of the scent from the bottle or via the use of a diffuser), topically, and some of them can even be used internally*. The chemical makeup of essential oils makes it easy to spread their benefit, supporting all of the cells of the body within mere minutes.

*Exercise caution when using essential oils internally, and you may want to consult your physician to be sure there are no reactions with other prescriptions. The only oils we ever use internally at the Groves of Zen are Young Living’s Vitality oils which have been FDA reviewed as Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) for consumption.

Why Young Living?

It’s important to choose your oils wisely - not all oils are crafted the same. In fact, many of the oils available on the market today are only suitable for perfumes. But when you’re talking about supporting your body physically, emotionally, and spiritually, perfume grade just doesn’t cut it.
